JulyFest soccer back on July 16

The JulyFest tournament held in Kimberley every summer is Western Canada's largest for men's and women's soccer. It is celebrating 39 years of competition and interest keeps growing every year.

The weekend is sold out for interested teams, but spectators can take in games played on fields throughout Kimberley from 8 in the morning until 6 at night. Every field in Kimberley will see steady action all day Saturday and most of Sunday as well. For a complete list of pools and team schedules, go to www.julyfestsoccer.com and download the 'tournament package'. Cheer for a local team or one of our many visiting teams from all over Western Canada and the bordering states. The weekend is always packed with exciting competition as these teams compete for $7,000 in cash prize money.

Games are 60 minutes long. In Saturday's group play, teams earn three points for a win, one point for a tie, and an additional point if their opponent does not score a goal. The top eight teams after Saturday's play will compete for the championship on Sunday. The remaining teams will play in a consolation playoff pool.

The home of JulyFest soccer is Coronation Field (just north of Kimberley's Platzl). It is the best place to watch the tournament's marquee games in the best atmosphere. At the tournament's home field you can eat breakfast, lunch or dinner with Subway restaurants on location and see the results from fields all over town. On Sunday afternoon the men's and women's semi-finals and finals are held and are the best games of the weekend.
