As a recent newcomer to Cranbrook, I don’t know much of the history of the City and think it’s a wonderful place to live right now. However, as a senior on a fixed income, I am very, very concerned about the decisions the Council is making about the future.
It appears to be a given that the City is going to raise our taxes to pay for a new sewage system, which some people say will cost up to $20 million, and more money is needed to fix the roads and the water mains. The cost of getting water and sewer and police etc. out to the new golf development will be enormous. Are we also paying for that?
Now City council wants to add on a new huge area that will need connecting roads, police and fire services, water, etc. Where is the money going to come from for that? I also don’t understand why our City Council isn’t being more open about all these things and better informed. Why is only one member of Council brave enough to ask all these questions? Something doesn’t smell right here.
