Resort Summit Fund supports the arts

The Centre 64 Expansion Committee has received a huge boost from the Kimberley Alpine Resort Summit Fund - $10,000 over two years. Above, representing KAR is Doug Schneider and for the Expansion Committee, Jason Andrews, Carol Fergus and John Allen.

If the Centre 64 Expansion Committee fails to meet their goal of raising enough funds to buy the lot next door to the current Arts Centre, it certainly won’t be through lack of community support.

Donors from all sectors of the community have been coming forward, the latest being the Kimberley Alpine Resort.

Through their Summit Fund, the Resort has pledged $5000 this year and $5000 for the next, a very sizeable and much appreciated donation, said Committee member Carol Fergus.

Centre 64 expansion, to provide a more accessible, and larger, arts venue, has been a dream of the Kimberley Arts Council for quite some time. Buying the lot next door to make expansion possible is the key first step.

The Kimberley Alpine Resort Community Summit Fund is dedicated to being a strong supporter of the local community by providing cash grants to a number of local causes and initiatives.

A fund of $150,000 was dedicated in 2007 to a variety of community projects and initiatives over the next 5 years (2007 to 2011).

Between April 2007 and December 2009, the Kimberley Alpine Resort Community Summit Fund has provided $87,889 in cash, as well as in-kind donations to a total of 38 community organizations and 42 unique projects:
