The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life in Kimberley is scheduled for June 12 and 13, 2010, and planning is well underway.
One of the biggest jobs right off the start, however, will be settling on a final location. Last year, unable to secure their traditional location at Selkirk Secondary, the Relay moved out to Meadowbrook to the Pentecostal Church (former Meadowbrook School). While the site was a success, Relay organizers would prefer an in-Kimberley location if possible.
Regional coordinator Lori Stevenson says that the committee has contacted the Kimberley Alpine Resort about the potential for using their parking lot for the Relay.
The first choice would have been Coronation Park but unfortunately that was not available because of a ball tournament.
In any event, the Relay is a go and people should be thinking about getting teams together now.
And volunteers are needed, Stevenson said. “We have a five person committee but we need more people. New people. We need more on the steering committee and for all jobs, big and small. Whatever time you could give us, we’d appreciate.”
