Rotary steps up

Carol Fergus of the Centre 64 Expansion Committee receives an $875 cheque from Kimberley Rotary President Simon Brown.

Around Kimberley, groups and individuals are stepping up to help out the Buy Into the Arts campaign, which is raising money to buy the lot next door to Centre 64 to allow the arts centre to expand.

The latest to step forward is the Kimberley Rotary Club, which sponsored the 50's-60's Valentines Bash on Feb 13th at Centre 64.

“The attendee's dressed for the occasion and memories flooded back as the MC for the evening sporting horn rimmed glasses and plaid jacket announced spot and broom dances and the elimination waltz and a great deal of Rock and Roll,” said committee member Carol Fergus. “A highlight of the evening featured an appearance of the Cline sisters and their rendition of the Patsy Cline song “I've Got Your Picture”

Proceeds from the evening were $875, which will go to the expansion fund.

“Kimberley Rotary has been very supportive of KAC-C64 throughout the whole process. All of Kimberley benefits by having such an active community minded organization,” Fergus said.
