The City of Kimberley's $1.2 million Mark Creek Chlorination and Micro-Hydro projects, funded through grants and City funds approved in the Alternate Approval Process last year, has been revised to stay within budget.
Coun. Bob West-Sells told Council this week that the project has been trimmed, redesigned and redundancies eliminated, in order to fit in to the original budget.
The project will allow small amounts of hydro to be generated and also manufacture chlorine on site instead of transporting cylinders through town.
“We haven't got a Cadillac anymore,” West-Sells said, “But we have a Chevy and it should run just fine.”
Grant money provides $750,000 of the $1.2 million total project cost.
