Summer in the City

With Arts on the Edge in the bag (see more in tomorrow’s Bulletin), Kimberley’s run of summer festivals is just about over. There’s still the all-day Kimberley Music Festival on August 21 and the new Rotary Lobster Fest on August 28, for 150 people lucky enough to get tickets, but that’s it.

However, if you are staying in town there’s still plenty to entertain you in Kimberley’s Platzl.

Tuesday’s, Wednesdays and Thursdays, Tanya Siega is in the Gazebo Bandstand for her Soprano in the Platzl performances. Those shows run through September 2.

here’s more to enjoy outdoors in the Platzl as well. The Stageworks Theatre Company, newly formed to provide theatre for those missing the Summer Theatre this year, is drawing pretty decent crowds at their makeshift outdoor theatre on Deer Park in the Platz. The troupe has turned the vacant lot across from Blackbear Books into an outdoor theatre are pleased with the support they are receiving.

The next performances for Stageworks are this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 pm. They have two plays to present - Funeral Tea and A New Sunrise. And next week on August 17, 18 and 19, see In the Tank and The Duck Variations.

A lot of hard work has gone into preparing so many different plays, so drop by and show your appreciation.

And don’t forget the Village Market every Sunday through September 5. More and more people are discovering this market each week.
