Schools in

Summer vacation — too short for most students and perhaps endless for some parents — is almost over.

All that’s left now is the back to school shopping and getting organized for the coming year.

All schools in Kimberley re-open on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 although each one has a slightly different opening day time table.

On Tuesday, September 7 all grades 8, 9, 10 and 11 Selkirk students assemble in the gymnasium at 8:45 a.m. for instruction and timetables.

All grade 8 – 11 students will run through a shortened timetable and will then be dismissed by 11:50 a.m. Grade 12 students will attend an assembly in the gymnasium at 11:15 a.m. for instructions, timetables and graduation requirements. They will also be dismissed at 11:50 a.m. Bus pick up will be at 12:10.

Alternate School students will start at 9:00 am on Tuesday, September 7 and meet at the Alternate School at 570 Mark St. Students will be at the school for the entire day and will be dismissed at 2:10 pm.

All students will then begin a full day of classes according to their timetable on Wednesday, September 8, 2010.

At McKim all grades 6 and 7 students will assemble in the gym for information and class assignments, while students in grades 4 and 5 will be shown directly to their homeroom classes. Students will be dismissed from school at 11:50 a.m. and bus pick up will be at 12:00 p.m. This is a half day for all students and they will not attend class in the afternoon.

At the elementary schools Lindsay Park students start at 8:45 a.m. and will be picked up by the bus at 11:55. In Marysville start time 8:20 a.m., bus pick up at 11:30. Marysville Kindergarten students will start regular classes on Friday, September 10.

The Ministry of Education also suggests that this might be a good time to walk or bike with your younger students to their school to ascertain that they know the route.
