The 37th annual Cranbrook Kennel Club Dog Show wrapped up on the weekend, featuring dogs and their handlers from all over North America, and coming from Finland, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Montana and B.C.

More than 200 dogs took centre stage in Best of Breed, Best of Group and Best of Show competitions. There were also events in conformation, obedience and rally obedience, and a Junior Handling Competition.

"It was very successful," said Dick Lopaschuk, Kennel Club President of the three-day event, held Friday, Saturday and Sunday. "It was a little disappointing with the number of dogs that were entered, but all in all it was a lot of fun and everybody had a good time."

The Moir Park location is also a good fit for the show. It's very scenic up there," Lopaschuk said, "and people were very happy with the facility."

The Cranbrook Kennel Club will be holding meetings in the near future to start planning for next year. Lopaschuk said the Club aims to start holding other activities, such as agility trials.

Best in Show awards for the weekend - a sweep by Alberta dogs - are as follows.

Friday: Champion Royal Future JP Just As I Am - a Doberman Pinscher;

Saturday: Champion Ensign's Futura Vita of Tybrushe - a Boxer;

Sunday:Champion Seven Oaks Casablanca Royale - an English Setter.
