For an inaugural event, a sell out is all you can hope for, and that is exactly what the Kimberley Rotary Club got for their first Lobster Fest.
One hundred and fifty tickets were printed, and that’s how many were sold for an all you can eat lobster-pallooza last Saturday night at Centennial Hall.
As this the first time for the festival, overhead was a little higher this year, with bibs and crackers having to be purchased, but chair Scott Saito says that $2000 was realized off ticket sales, plus $460 off the 50/50 draw and almost $5000 off the silent auction.
“It was a good night,” Saito said.
Next year the fest will be held in June and it is hoped in a larger venue with more tickets sold. All the money raised will go to Rotary projects within Kimberley, including the Rotary Scholarship at Selkirk.
