City of Kimberley releases Economic Development strategy

At their regular meeting this week, Kimberley City Council received the Economic Development Strategy Study and adopted its vision statement and implementation strategies.

The report contains 62 recommendations on how to achieve growth, which according to the vision statement, is sustainable and does not compromise social and environmental values.

?A lot of it is already underway, said Mayor Jim Ogilvie.

The Mayor said that there was quite a process involved in preparing the study ? a very well attended public meeting, a survey which received 400 responses and several focus group sessions.

?If we adopt the vision and strategy we have a pretty clear and concise economic strategy. For the most part, it has sensible and reasonable recommendations.?
