Last year?s gala fundraiser for Centre 64 ? an Art Auction and Wine Tasting ? was a huge success. But not wanting to rest on their laurels, the Centre 64 Expansion Committee, has dreamed up even more fun for this year.
The committee has asked a Calgary entertainer and comedian, Gary Schubert, to act as host for the event. The theme this year is Austin Powers and everyone is asked to come dressed as their favourite spy.
The evening will include entertainment by Gery, live and silent auctions, wine, appetizers, music and entertainment.
The gala is planned for Friday, October 29 at 6:30 pm at Centre 64.
The committee is requesting donations from artists, artisans and area businesses. Approximately 40 items are needed for auction, including paintings, prints, art cards, photographs, quilts, jewelry, furniture, golf packages, winter accommodation packages and more.
Organizers would like those who plan to attend to RSVP by Wednesday, October 27, 2010. Call 250-427-4919.
The proceeds from this event will go towards a land purchase to expand the existing Centre 64. If that purchase falls through, the funds will be used to renovate the facility to make all areas wheelchair accessible.
Access to the theatre at Centre 64 is currently on the second floor and inaccessible to those in wheelchairs. The expansion committee has been raising funds for over a year, in hopes of being able to buy a piece of land beside the Centre and expand the existing building.
