The Off Centre Players proudly present "Swashbucklers" a whimsical comedy for all ages, running from November 28th to December 4th at Centre 64. This production is a result of many collaborative efforts of the Off Centre Players including the writing and original musical score.
The idea developed with some discussion over a glass of wine and has blossomed into a production beyond all imagination. Joanne Wilkinson spearheaded the idea writing the plot, with the assistance of Michael Jones and Lisa McKay. After fellow thespian Tylene Turner read the script, she knew right away that she wanted to direct the play and took the reins from there. Her vision of this "pantomime-like" play took off into a realm of make-believe characters and hilarious situations.
The OCP's have performed many Pantomimes over the years during the Christmas season, which is an English theatrical tradition. Pantomimes include villains, heroines and plenty of audience participation. Although this play is not a true Pantomime it does have many similarities and is sure to be a big hit for children. All the music in the play was scored by another talented actor, Dustin Mousseau. His brilliant musical interpretation of this play is another crowning achievement for this completely local developed production.
Don't miss this family event as you will surely be entertained from young to old. The play begins on Sunday Nov 28th with a 2 pm matinee and then runs Tuesday through Saturday with all shows at 7 pm. Tuesday's performance will include a complimentary wine and cheese after the show to meet and offer feedback to the actors. Wednesday's performance will include a discounted ticket price for seniors of $10.00.
All other shows are $12 for adults and $8 for children. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased at Black Bear Books and Video in Kimberley and at Lotus books in Cranbrook.
