Is Kimberley home to a future PGA star? It could very well be.
Jared duToit has recently returned from Phoenix, Arizona, where he played in the invitational MJT Canadian National Championships. Jared was one of 60 junior golfers to be selected from across Canada to participate in this event. He was able to fight the wind and some challenging greens to place within the top 10 in his age category.
This was a great opportunity for a Kimberley golfer to be on the national stage, to meet other Junior golfers and to understand some of the requirements for scholarships and golf at a high level.
Jared would like to extend thanks to many members of the community and to the Kimberley Golf Club for their continued support and mentoring as he pursues his passion. Experiences such as Jared has just had do exist for young golfers in the Kimberley area.
The Kimberley Golf Club is proud of its junior program and intends to expand it. The club would like to continue to develop young aspiring golfers like Jared.
Any current or future junior golfers are asked to contact the club to talk about opportunities for junior golf.
The club would especially like to see more girls taking up the game.
