Kimberley turkey run-off

Looking for a way to run off the effects of all that holiday feasting? Come along to Lois Creek trails in Kimberley on December 27th and take part in the Turkey Run-Off 2010 snowshoe races.

The Turkey Run-off is a two-part event. You may either enter the 1 K or 2.5 km snowshoe race, which follows a fixed track or a 3 - 6 km orienteering course, where participants choose their own route to the finish. All the action starts at noon on December 27th, 2010. You can bring your own snowshoes or rent a pair from us (supply limited).

Race Categories are:

1.0 KM - Junior Snowshoe Race for those 16 & under

2. 5 km Snowshoe Race - This course follows a fixed route open to ages 12 and over.

Scatter Orienteering Course (3 - 6.0 KM) - Participants will receive a map of the Lois Creek Trail System. On the map will be marked 12 - 15 control points (easily located along the trail system). The goal is to locate your required number of points and return to the finish in the shortest time.

Fees: Under 18 - $2 ; 18 & older - $10.

Snowshoe Rentals (if needed) - $10

You can pre-register on-line at www.kootenayorienteering.com or register on Dec. 27th between 12:15 & 1:00 PM at 626 Trail Street. Registrations after Dec. 25th will be subject to a $2 late fee.
