Snowshoe Orienteering in Kimberley

Allie Waite hits the sliding slope at the Friends of Lois Creek Turkey Run Off

A wonderful time was had by all at the Lois Creek Trails this week for the Turkey Run Off, a snowshoeing and skiing orienteering event. There were 66 participants and 14 volunteers at the December 27 event. And those participants came from as far away as Australia.

The winners of the Scatter Orienteering came from Spokane Washington - Tran and Brandon Thayer and the winner of the 2.5 km Snowshoe Race was from Kimberley - Grant Coughlin.

For the Scatter Orienteering, a 3 to 6 K course was run. Participant received a map of the Lois Creek Trail System. On the map were marked 12 - 15 control points (easily located along the trail system). The goal was to locate your required number of points and return to the finish in the shortest time.
