OKKO sponsors photo contest

Okko Communities, the developer of Sullivan Landing, is inviting all young people in Kimberley to participate in their "My Kimberley" photo and video contest.

"We need images of the community," said Brian De Paoli, Okko's Sales Manager, "so we're asking the youth of Kimberley to show us what Kimberley looks like to them. Their activities, their favorite places, their pets, whatever they might think is interesting or unique about the town. Shoot it, video or photograph, and submit it. We've got some iPads for the best ones we receive."

Content is the main criteria for picking the winners, according to De Paoli.

"We are going to look a lot more at the subject matter than the technical merit," he explained. "We want the kids to tell us their story, in their own way, regardless of their age, skill level, or camera. A badly framed, out of focus action shot from the skateboard park taken with a cel phone, or a seven year-old's overexposed video of their sister's first ski lesson, could well take first prize."

Contest rules and entry forms are available at the Sullivan Landing website (www.sullivanlanding.com/mykimberley).

"We want the contest to be simple, but we do need everyone to fill in an entry form and include it with their pictures or videos," said De Paoli. "We are going to use as many of the videos and pictures as we can in our marketing, so it's important that we have permission to use the images and that we credit the photographers accurately."

The contest runs from now until July 14, and the winners will be announced at the Kid's Fest in the Platzl during Julyfest. Entries can be dropped off at the Sullivan Landing showhome in Lois Creek and there is no entry fee. Watch the Bulletin for some of the submissions in the coming weeks.
