How does one celebrate a big anniversary for one of the most storied hockey franchises in hockey history?
You start by making every home game a party and inviting the entire community to attend.
The club has plenty of surprises planned, including different home games honoring Dynamiter heroes of the past. Club president Rick Prasad promises lots of fun at every game, with details to be announced closer to the start of the season. The Dynamiters first home game is Saturday, September 17 at 7 p.m. Note the earlier start time. Games have been moved up from 7:30 this year, which Prasad says is a good move for the local club.
"It's a better time, particularly for our younger fans. We have quite a few weekday games this year, so the 7 p.m. starts gets them home earlier."
The Dynamiters will sport new uniforms this year. Designed after the jerseys worn by the 1937 world championship team, the jerseys will also hold a crest honoring Dynamiter great Bill Steenson's number six. Steenson passed away earlier this year.
The Dynamiters enter this season full of optimism. The financial picture is a lot more solid than it has been in recent years, Prasad says, and sponsors are lined up.
"We really want to thank our sponsors. They really came to the party last year and they are back again this year. We've had some key signings, like Dallin Wolf just this week. We have some excellent local talent."
The club is still looking for a few billet families for out of town players, so if you can help out, give Tammy a call at 250-427-1027.
