It was a split weekend for the Kimberley Dynamiters, dropping a 1-0 decision to the Rebels in Castlgar on Friday night and taking their frustration out on the Columbia Valley Rockies in the Civic Centre at home the following evening, with a 10-1 drubbing.
The Nitros played a good game against the Rebels, said head coach Roman Vopat, despite the loss, as Castlegar scored the only goal in the first period on the man-advantage.
"What I like about this weekend was the game last (Friday) night, how we played in Castlegar, it was a good game, a good pace, a good tempo, a good overall game and unfortunately we lost," said Vopat, after the win over the Rockies on Saturday night. "But you're going to have games like that, when you work hard, you play good, but you lose."
The Dynamiters destroyed the Rockies on Saturday, handing the Invermere-based club its seventh loss in a row since the beginning of the KIJHL regular season.
The Nitros opened up the scoring within a minute on the powerplay, as Rylan Duley posted his third goal of the season.
Two more markers from Taylor McDowell and Senate Patton followed before the period ended.
The Rockies managed to respond nearly eight minutes into the second period, when Reto Stiz managed to rip a shot past Braeden Ostepchuk on the powerplay.
However, it was all Nitros from then on, with two goals from Jared Marchi and another from Jordan Bartusek to end the frame at 6-1. There was only more carnage to come from the Dynamiters, as Bartusek and McDowell notched their second goals of the night, with helpers from Mitch Gallagher and Brett Luker to close up the scoring.
Colton Vannucci had a five-point night, all from assisting goals from his teammates and Marchi tallied the same number, with two markers and three assists.
Frustration from the Rockies side was clear after a scrum in front of the Columbia Valley goal turned into fisticuffs between Dallin Wolfe and Thomas Robinson.
"I'm happy with the result, I'm happy about the two points but I'm not happy with the game, how we played," said Vopat. "It's hard to play against a team like this who is struggling and has had a hard time to win some games, but most importantly, we got the two points and that's what counts."
The weekend puts the Nitros in second place of the Eddie Mountain division and ties them for third in the Kootenay Conference of the KIJHL.
Next action for the Nitros will be on Friday in Nelson to battle the Leafs, before coming home to face the Chase Heat on Saturday.
