Columbia River - Revelstoke MLA Norm Macdonald has never hidden the fact that he thinks that under the BC Liberals the Legislature is not in session enough. And the session which begins today and is scheduled to continue through November is particularly important he says.
Macdonald says that the past two years have produced a dysfunctional government entirely absorbed in pushing the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) on the people of British Columbia, and dealing with the referendum on said tax.
It's time to get back to work, Macdonald says.
"This session will be first extended period of time that Premier Christy Clark will be in the Legislature since her election as Leader of the BC Liberals in February.
"It's been more than half a year since Premier Clark took over and we've not really seen anything substantial that indicates what she is going to do to put the province back on track," said Macdonald. "In fact, what we've seen so far has been pretty dismal, especially the much touted jobs plan.
"After a summer of bungling and indecision, this Legislative session is really the last chance for the Premier to prove that she is up to the job.
"The Premier has a responsibility to layout a clear fiscal plan that provides British Columbians with fair taxation and the quality public services that they deserve."
