Answers

1. The Kimberley Knights Junior B Hockey Club failed to ice a team in the 1990-91 season. At the last minute, the Knights became the Junior Dynamiters and Junior A hockey in Kimberley was born. Now it's the Kimberley Junior B hockey team, 21 years later.

2. Back in 1988, the Kimberley Gopher League softball finals saw the Sullivan Hotel Jets defeat the Kootenay Greens 7-3. 150 fans came out. Awesome.

3. It was August 8, 1962 when big things were happening out on the Wycliffe Prairie. MP Jim Byrne, Cranbrook Mayor George Haddad, Kimberley Mayor Cliff Swan, MLA Leo Nimsick, Mine staff Brian Hamilton Carl Gallicano (Pres.), Fertilizer Plant, Art Howard, St. Mary's Lumber Co. Tommy Moore, Javalat Ammunition, George Voxx, CIL, Biz Coleen, and Ray Armstrong (who had the first shot back in 1938 was on hand).

Cominco had the property procured for Trap and Skeet, the site was chosen, it was half way from Cranbrook and Kimberley. The still shoot as we speak.

Prior to that the Oasis Room was up in the main room and it had a very complex molded architect ceiling.

7. The Kimberley Pollution Control Center opened July 12, 1969. The Teck/Cominco Water Treatment Plant opened in October of 1970. It's kind of funny how even the City of Victoria hasn't cleaned up its sewer control. Victoria's water treatment level is no treatment.

8. On January 4, 1974, the Bavarian Haus opened.

9. The Thaler was worth a dollar in Kimberley back in 1974 and beyond. The photographer for the Kimberley Bulletin at the time was Mount Everest conqueror Pat Morrow.
