Official broadcaster CTV will air Paralympic opening ceremony in B.C.

VANCOUVER, B.C. - CTV has decided to broadcast tonight's Paralympic opening ceremonies live, but only in British Columbia.

The official broadcaster of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games was originally planning to air the performance across the country on tape delay Saturday morning.

But there was a mounting chorus of criticism over that decision, given that the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games were carried live.

The rest of the country will still have to wait until 11 a.m. PST Saturday for a chance to view the opening ceremonies.

Viewers outside B.C. will see their regular programming on Friday night.

However, the International Paralympic Committee will carry the ceremony live on its website, www.ParalympicSport.tv.
